Individual Therapy
Life is difficult and you may be carrying a heavy load of pain and loss. You can work hard, do your very best, and still find yourself lost, stuck, and out of ideas.
Sometimes we all need someone to help us find our way to heal, change, and grow. It can be difficult to see the ways we are thinking and behaving that aren’t serving us well. We need new coping strategies, healing of old wounds, unhelpful beliefs that need to be released, clarification of who we are in this stage of life, or growth toward the person we want to be. And sometimes life hands us trauma and tragedy and we need help to put ourselves together again. Whether you are seeking healing, healthier relationships, clarity, coping strategies, or a new direction, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
You are unique, and your struggles are influenced by many factors. I take time to explore your world and experience. Who do you live with and who matters most to you? Where do you feel strong and where do you hurt? What supports do you have? Beginning with a holistic approach, I look at your big picture—the circumstances of your life today, your current web of relationships, and possibly the relationships and experiences of your past. I am strongly influenced by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and believe that safe, secure relationships are how we all grow and thrive.
You are the expert of your life and I seek your feedback throughout our work together so that I can be as useful for you as possible. I draw on a range of therapies and, when appropriate, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindful self-compassion, family of origin work, and somatic therapy. I will collaborate with you so that you can find your way to heal, change, and grow.
Some of the areas I work with are:
- Anxiety and depression
- Women’s reproductive mental health (PMS, PMDD, infertility, pregnancy, birth trauma, post-partum, perimenopause and menopause)
- Life transitions
- Relationship conflict
- Separation/divorce
- Grief and loss
- Spiritual/religious abuse
- Childhood and recent trauma
- Stress
- Coping skills
- Self-esteem/self-acceptance
- Spiritual integration
Couples Therapy
When things aren’t working with your partner, everything feels harder. Whether your relationship is in crisis or just not as close and connected as you would like it to be, couples therapy can help you reconnect and strengthen your relationship. Caring about each other deeply does not always keep us from experiencing disconnection and getting stuck in negative patterns. If your relationship feels like it’s not where you want it to be, or if you aren’t sure you can even keep it going, couples therapy can help you repair, reconnect, and renew your bond.
I work with relationship issues including:
adjustment to parenting and difficulties in parenting, dealing with infertility and fertility treatment, family conflict, infidelity, life stress, illness, and grief.
My primary approach in couples work is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). EFCT is an evidence based and highly effective form of therapy that helps partners experience and improve their emotional connections with others and themselves. This therapy is based on the principle that our emotions are central to our experience of our lives and relationships. As humans, we are wired for relationships across our lifetime. Having a secure sense of ourselves as lovable and trustworthy enables us to build supportive bonds with others. Secure bonds contribute to greater health and happiness.
Couples experience strong negative emotions can get stuck in patterns of disconnection. By exploring and working through these emotions a couple can “change their dance,” find new ways to connect, and create a more secure bond. EFCT has extensive clinical research backing and has been helping couples transform their relationships since it’s development in the 1980’s.
Typically, the first session of EFCT focuses on my learning about your situation and where you get stuck.
Together we will begin to identify what patterns of disconnection are present for you. Next, I meet with each partner individually to explore your relationship history, your experiences in important relationships, and your experience in this current relationship. We would then meet again all together to use this information to begin to de-escalate your conflict, work together to change your pattern, and build a stronger and more secure bond between you.
Grief Counselling
“Love and grief come as a package deal. If you love you will one day have sorrow.” - David Kessler
Eventually we all lose something precious - someone we love, our health, a pet, a stage of life. Grief is part of human life. But when you find yourself stuck in pain, overwhelmed, and unable to go on with life, grief counselling can help you find your way to remember with more love than pain.

About
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I believe that safe and secure relationships are how we all grow and thrive, and I work to create that safety in my work with clients. I specialize in improving couple relationships, supporting women’s and maternal mental health, and healing from grief and trauma. In addition to my master’s degree, I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) that guides my work with couples and individuals. I am a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP). I also integrate cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), internal family systems, mindfulness practices, self-compassion work, and body-based (somatic) approaches.
I am also a human who has always been curious about connections, our connection to each other, to ourselves, to the earth, and to a sense of something greater than ourselves. I believe that deepening these connections is a reliable path to heal, change, and grow.
